ICE and No Kings Protests in Downtown Los Angeles

In Downtown Los Angeles, thousands gathered to demonstrate their lack of support for Donald Trump and his anti-immigration policies. The president dispatched the National Guard and deployed 700 marines on peaceful protestors without approval from the governor. Violent clashes ensued as law enforcement shot rubber bullets and threw tear gas into crowds of peaceful protestors.

Gay bars used to be the only space that held queer history. But since the 1980s, lesbian bars have dwindled from about 200 to roughly 34, threatening the existence and safety of sapphic queer culture. In San Francisco, lesbian bars provide a safe space for queer women by creating a vibrant community filled with love, joy, and authenticity.

LIPSMACK is a monthly show at Thee Stork Club in Oakland that organizes a dramatic showdown between two local drag queens. The show is a microcosm of alternative entertainment in Oakland that pushes the boundaries even of conventional drag representations.
Exploring the strange mind of Henry S. Rosenthal, an indie film producer, experimental musician, and compulsive collector. He produced Daniel Johnston's documentary, drummed for the legendary punk band Crime, and houses the world's largest collection of two-headed taxidermy calves.
